NATURAL MOTHER-OF-PEARL FOILS
Our foils are obtained “peeling” 1 st quality shells. The hand technique is like a patchwork. The flakes are glued one next to each other to compose sheets of size 20x20 and 30x30 cm.

The transparency of the ZANIN mother-of-pearl sheets allows various uses in the lighting field.
These sheets can be glued on transparent, neutral or coloured backings to realize lampshades or back-lightened walls . When the light is off, the natural iridescences of the mother-of-pearl will be in particular evidence. FLEXIBILITY
Even if the shell has a consistence similar to a stone, the ZANIN sheets of mother-of-pearl have a good flexibility that allows to make decorations and coverings on curved surfaces with a ray of about 15- 20 cm .
To cover surfaces with a very little we supply the Mother-of-Pearl cloth. This is an innovative product that can be used even on stuffed furniture and in the fashion field.
COLOURED SHEETS
Mother-of-pearl sheets can be painted and tinted with gloss or mat coloured paints. In both options, the paint has a pigment that protects the shell against the UV rays. Thanks to this component, the shell sheet does not fear the sun rays.
The paint can also be applied further times.
It is not possible realize coloured sheets with multiple thickness (6/10 or 9/10).
TECHNICAL NOTES
Shell sheets surface has the same vulnerability of a painted wood. The problem is not mother-of-pearl but the paint that may be scratched.
From an aesthetician point of vu , we suggest to always paint the mother-of-pearl sheets to exalt its peculiarities. When it is used as floor covering, it is better to use the mat finishing. Mother-of-pearl floor needs the same care of a wood or leather surface. The paint we use protects the shell sheet against perfumes, detergents, oil, coffee and other substances that could stain the surface.
